United Airlines Domestic Fleet

The seating arrangements on the United Airlines Domestic Fleet are established for all three classes - First, Economy Plus and Economy.

The quantity of seats in a particular class on an aircraft are related to the pitch of those particular seats in a particular class. For example a seat found in First Class may have a pitch (or lean back) of 38 inches while a seat in Economy class may have a pitch of only 31 inches.

This basically means that the greater the pitch the greater amount of leg room for the passengers behind. Therefore travelling First class will allow a passenger to stretch out more than an Economy passenger.

There are currently five different aircraft types used by United Airlines which form their domestic fleet - Airbus A319 and A320; and Boeing 737-300, 757-200 and 777-200 (United's low-price domestic carrier called TED also operates the Airbus A320).

United Airlines A319's can seat up to 120 passengers depending upon the pitch of the seats 31 to 38 inch pitch. Seating arrangements are configured with 8 First Class seats, 40 economy Plus seats and 72 Economy Class seats.

This airplane is a single aisle airplane and therefore each plane has three seats either side of the aisle and 24 rows.

Airbus A320 is the most purchased single aisle jetliner in the world.

This aircraft can seat up to 138 passengers with a seating pitch of 31 to 38 inches. Seating arrangements are configured with 12 First Class seats, 36 Economy Plus seats and 90 Economy Class seats.

This aircraft can seat up to 156 passengers with a seating pitch of up to 36 inches.

Seating arrangements are configured with 66 Economy Plus seats and 90 economy Class seats.

This aircraft can seat up to 120 passengers with a seating pitch up to 38 inches. Seating arrangements are configured with 8 First Class seats, 46 Economy Plus class seats and 66 Economy Class seats.

Boeing 757-200

United Airlines domestic fleet also includes the Boeing 757-200 to fly passengers on mid-range and long haul trips including to and from Hawaii.

This aircraft can seat up to 182 passengers with a seating pitch of up to 38 inches. Seating arrangements are configured with 24 First Class seats, 50 Economy Plus seats and 108 Economy Class seats.

Boeing 777-200

This aircraft can seat up to 348 passengers with a seating pitch of up to 38 inches. Seating arrangements are configured with 36 First Class seats, 89 Economy Plass Class seats and 223 Economy Class seats.
