Ultralight Helicopters
by: ROTOR F/X (Mosquito Distributor, Van Nuys, CA)

Hi Chuck,

If you are looking for a kit then your only options for an an ultralight helicopter are the Mosquito AIR and the Mosquito XEL. For an enclosed ship then it is just the XEL. Its almost a miracle to pull off an ultralight helicopter and even these two just barely make it within the Part 103 weight limit. The AIR is exactly 254 lbs which is the maximum weight allowed and the XEL would not make it at all if it were not for the weight exemption for additional safety equipment (the floats).

There are a few, but scarce, possible choices which are "plans only" helicopters if you are willing to actually manufacture the entire aircraft your self. Few of these ever see the light of day and it is largely unknown if they would even fly successfully if constructed.
